French Fruitwood Farm Table with Bread Slide
An exquisite 19th Century fruitwood farm table from Northern France, circa 1880s.
Beautifully crafted with a four plank tabletop with cleated ends, tapered legs and well pegged joinery.
Character, colour, patina and wear are all on point.
The bread slide extends to an impressive 80cm and remains firm and strong allowing for use as a handy table extension for two people.
The legs have all had a lower section masterfully replaced (some time ago) and the difference in tone now offers an interesting glimpse at its history.
Further character has been added with heavy, and some deep, areas of old worm activity. The tabletop especially has some very interesting areas which we absolutely adore. The table has been fully treated by us and there is no live activity just great signs of past presence.
Comfortably seats eight people with an extra two if extended.
Solid, sturdy, heavy, freshly refinished and ready for the next 100+ years of its journey.
H: 76.5cm | W: 200cm (280cm extended) | D: 81cm | Lap H: 62cm (floor to frieze).
