George V Library Desk by Libraco
An English oak library desk crafted by Libraco London in 1934.
Stamped with the furniture makers mark, year of production and also the 'GR Crown' stamp.
Libraco were world renowned for their superb index card drawer units, used mainly in libraries. Desks by this maker are far rarer to come across. Having the 'GR Crown' stamp suggests that this desk was originally produced for a government department such as a school or more likely a library.
The desktop has its original inset green rexine cloth which has the most wonderfully worn aged patina. It has many marks of wear and tear and a super light washed hue but no significant damage or losses.
Two full depth frieze drawers with their super original brass cup handles, each with the 'GR Crown' engraved stamp.
Removable top for ease of placement.
Solid, sturdy and lightly waxed to finish.
